Hello Church,

Lots going on! Here’s the run down for this week. We are trying out a new email through Gmail. This way we have some time to explore before our Juno account is up for renewal. Gmail is free of charges and our Juno account is not. Darcy also gets a lot of spam that she can’t weed out on the Juno account that we can with Gmail. So we are going to give it a try. Our new email is: westunionlutheran@gmail.com This matches our webpage as well, which is: www.westunionlutheran.org Hopefully we are moving into the future with a bit of cost savings as well as programs that aid us in our communication.

West Union hosting Families Moving Forward

  1. 25:34-40 “Then the King will say to those on the right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me, I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’ Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?’ And the King will tell them, ‘I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

West Union is the host church For FMF for November 4th to November 11th.

Families Moving Forward (FMF) is a program to provide families experiencing homelessness a safe place to sleep, nutritious warm meals, activities for children/families and friendship. The families coming through the FMF program are all working towards having their own place to live, a job, and stability in their lives. This is West Union’s role in helping those in need.

There will be several opportunities to volunteer such as: 1. Providing a meal, 2. Greeting our guests each evening 3. Planning activities for children/teenagers. Spending time with the adults. 4. Being an overnight host by spending the night at church with the families.

West Union is not alone in hosting these guests. The church communities of St. John’s-Belle Plaine, Our Lady of the Prairie-Belle Plaine, Redeemer Lutheran- rural Henderson and other volunteers also provide help to cover the multiple hosting positions.

Consider volunteering your time and gifts to assist in this program; we are directed to serve and share, and I am sure you will feel rewarded and blessed for your efforts. Additional information about the different hosting position is available from Diane Koepp (952-873-2992). The sign up information will be made available in the bulletin around the 20th of October.
