September 4th 2019

Hello and Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. Worship this week, led by our Praise Band, will include blessing our teachers: We are blessed and grateful to Mary Kay L., Sarah K., Amy L., Heather B., Abby C., Maddie M., and Gary M. who have volunteered to help in our education program.

This Sunday is also our God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday. We are assembling emergency care packages for people experiencing homelessness. We are looking to assemble at least 100 kits. You all have responded with such abundance of giving, thank you!! A few items are still needed to fulfill this goal. Here is what we still need: gallon Ziplock bags, packs of gun, band aides, several pairs of sox, about 20 new water bottles, 40 lip balms. If you can help, please bring these to church as we will assemble the kits immediately following worship.

Worship participants needed: Scripture reader on 9/29 and ushers for 10/6 and 10/13. If you are able to help please contact Joy Heimark at: or 612-735-4544.

Country Market Correction: It has come to my attention that the letter the congregation received with Prize Drawing tickets in it said that Carol B. was the contact person and she is NOT. For all Country Market questions and concerns you should reach out to Heidi Schmidt; the chairperson of that committee. Again, please do not call Carol about this, call Heidi, the chairperson.

Tapestry Ministry is the group of musicians that came for our Blessing of Farmers in 2018. They are now celebrating 5 years of being a faith community (a church) in the Minneapolis Area Synod. Pastor Melissa Melnick invites us to come and celebrate with them on Sunday September 15th 3:30p for music, 5pm Bilingual Worship and Salsa Dancing after worship. All ages are welcome to attend. @ Oak Grove Lutheran 7045 Lyndale Ave S. Richfield

Adult Study for Fall. We will be reading and discussing the book “Martin Luther and the Call Life” by; Mark Tranvik. Dr. Tranvik is a professor of Religious Study at Augsburg University. Please purchase the book or see Pastor for help getting it. We will start our study Wednesday the 18th and repeat it again Sundays starting the 22nd.

Saturday September 21st Communion Class. 10am at church. All families are encouraged to bring their children for instruction on our Sacrament of the Altar; Holy Communion. Whether it is the 1st time or 3rd, all children and parents are encouraged to come and learn. Adults who would like a refresher are also welcome. If this will be your child’s 1st Communion class and they have not received before, we will have certificates and special recognition of this milestone in worship.

September 28th Country Market Fundraiser. 9a-3p. This is our major fundraiser for our budget. We need everyone to participate; work that day, donate crafts and canned goods, help set-up and take down event, sell tickets, etc…. Sign-up on Sunday morning as you enter church.
