The Vision of West Union Lutheran
We, the members of West Union Lutheran Church, will be the cornerstone of our community, where all are
welcome,
cultivating a faith that’s present and practiced every day.
We will offer life changing experiences for ALL to become closer to Christ and improve their well-being.

The 8 Practices
1) Daily Bible Reading During the Week
A simple, doable rhythm: a few minutes in Scripture during the week—no pressure, no guilt. It’s built for busy lives and open to every age and faith background.
How it works: We’ll use the YouVersion Bible app with a plan called “More Jesus” (about 10 minutes/day).
How to jump in: Reach out to Jim Stelten—he’ll help you get set up (including tech help).
2) East Union Weekly Bible Study
A steady weekly gathering for learning Scripture with others—asking questions, listening well, and growing together.
(More details and schedule will be shared as part of our Faith Beyond Sunday roadmap.)
3) Good Book Club
A welcoming book discussion group (currently described as a women’s small group) where faith connects with real life—page by page, story by story.
4) Christian Music Playlists During the Week
Faith in your earbuds. Members share favorite Christian songs or playlists—hymns, contemporary, gospel, instrumental, kids’ music, and more—so we can encourage each other through music.
How it works: We’ll start with Spotify, and we’ll post member-submitted playlists online. Great for commuting, chores, workouts, quiet time, or prayer.
5) Crowd-Sourced Christian Books & Podcasts
A shared “best of” list from our congregation. If something helped you—challenged you, comforted you, clarified faith—pass it along.
How it works: Send Pastor Adam the title/author, topic, and a quick note on why it mattered. We’ll post a shared list online and in church communications.
6) Coffee & Christ
A relaxed, honest conversation space—over coffee. No pressure, no “churchy answers required.” Questions are welcome.
How it works: Meets in the library after worship (about 45 minutes), lay-led with Pastor Adam participating, and volunteers are welcome (including help with kids and co-leading).
Example topics include big, real questions—like the resurrection.
7) Bands of Disciples
A small, consistent discipleship group—a few people choosing to walk the week together with intention: Scripture, prayer, encouragement, accountability, and showing up for one another.
8) Prayer Group
Prayer as a practice, not a performance. This can be personal prayer, shared prayer, or both—creating space to bring the real stuff of life to God and to one another.
